Not far from Moscow is Zvezdny Gorodok (Stellar Town), where the Soviet cosmonauts live and work.




Andrian Nikolayev and Vitaly Sevastyanov were the first to demonstrate the possibility of prolonged space flight, spending 18 days aboard the spaceship Soyuz-9.

Valentina Nikolayeva-Tereshkova, Hero of the Soviet Union, is the only woman who has been up into space.
