Red Square is always crowded with people.

This monument erected in 1818 by the sculptor Ivan Martos stands for the greatness and steadfastness of the Russian people. It portrays Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky, who at the beginning of the seventeenth century headed a people’s volunteer army which drove the Polish and Lithuanian invaders from Moscow.
